
FIHRRST’s Operations Director, Bahtiar Manurung, spoke at
the International Conference on Business and
Human Rights Compliance – Challenges and Trends – on 8 December 2017 in Bangkok. This event was organized by the German-Southeast Asian Center
of Excellence for Public Policy and Good Governance (CPG), Faculty of Law,
Thammasat University, in cooperation with the Hanns Seidel Foundation.
FIHRRST’s Operations Director spoke on the
Panel: “Advising businesses: Steps for
effective human rights compliance” where he shared the latest governmental initiatives to ensure business compliance to respect
human rights, the first being Indonesia’s
certification approach through the release
of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries regulation on
Fisheries Human Rights Management and Certification, and
the second being the French government’s reporting approach through the issuance of the French
Corporate Duty of Vigilance Plan.
