Tequila holds a Dual Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies and History, with a concentration in Russia from the University of Alaska Anchorage, a Master’s of Science degree in Counselling Psychology from Alaska Pacific University, and a Juris Doctorate from New England Law|Boston, with concentrations in Public International Law and Immigration Law. She was fortunate to study European Labor Law, Asylum Law, and Human Rights Law at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands.

Tequila is the Programme Coordinator at FIHRRST, focusing on business and human rights, vulnerable persons and other social issues. She writes reports and articles on social issues that impact business organisations. In her latest published work, Corporate Sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals: Respect for Civil Rights in Business, she examines the relationship between corporate sustainability and respect for human/civil rights. Additionally, she helps FIHRRST draft its human rights due diligence and sustainability reports. Tequila has also co-authored a whitepaper on businesses and their obligations to respect human rights in conflict situations. In other areas, she helps train organisations on fundamental business and human rights principles, recently assisting in the one-on-one BHR sessions hosted by UNDP and FIHRRST.
