
Jakarta, March 5, 2025 – The Foundation for International Human Rights Reporting Standards (FIHRRST) recently met with Mr. Roy Verelst, the First Secretary of the Belgium Embassy in Jakarta, to discuss current human rights and sustainability trends, and explore potential future collaboration.
During the discussion, FIHRRST and Mr. Verelst reflected on their collaboration during Human Rights Day 2024 and highlighted the challenges and opportunities posed by the current global uncertainty and its impact on human rights. They also exchanged insights on human rights discourses within Indonesia, Belgium, the European Union, and beyond. The meeting also touched upon the rising concern over corruption and its detrimental effects on human rights enforcement, economic development, and good governance.
Despite shifting global dynamics and increasing political-economic pressures, safeguarding fundamental human rights principles remains an important issue. By fostering collaboration, engaging with stakeholders, and promoting responsible business conduct, FIHRRST seeks to create a sustainable and just society where human rights are respected and protected at all levels.
